Kernel compiling, seek help

KERNEL catalog those Makefile, respectively 0_OBJS, L_OBJS and M_OBJS.
MODULE OBJECTS M_OBJS which clearly refers to the point, but O and L represent what this means.
Compiler for their handling any difference?
